Young cruisers with an interest in sailing can now live out their dreams as part of the
Costa Cruises “Captain for a Day” experience. Kids cruising onboard
Costa Diadema or
Costa Fascinosa can spend a day getting to know a day in the life of a Costa captain. The day long adventure includes seeing life at the helm of the ship, earning their captain’s stripes and culminating with a VIP dining experience alongside the captain himself in the main dining room.
Other highlights involve learning compass management, navigation tips, nautical terminology, signal flags and even learning how to leave secret messages. If that wasn’t enough, weather forecasting and broadcasting via the ship’s in-cabin television network are also part of the junior captain’s activities.
Scott Knutson, vice president sales and marketing for Costa Cruises North America said, "Kids get excited when they see the captain and officers walking around our ships. With the Captain for a Day program they'll get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the role the master fulfils onboard, learn a few tricks of the trade and enjoy an experience unlike anything else they've ever done while at sea."
The Captain for a day programme can be booked onboard and comes in three different levels. From Trainee through to Senior Captain.
