Celebrity Cruises has announced that it is engaging in a "spring clean" of its fleet, including
Celebrity Summit, which has already involved replacing thousands of square feet of tiles, carpeting and 2,500 yards of fabric.
The cruise ship has also been gifted with a new 11,000-kilowatt diesel dedicated electrical generation system to reduce fuel consumption when the ship is in port.
The floor in
Celebrity Summit's Rendezvous Lounge has been replaced while a renovated boutique gift shop area is another new change.
"We are constantly focused on the care and maintenance of our fleet, and evaluate the exterior and interior appearance of every ship, every day, to ensure we're consistently delivering the best guest experience," Senior Vice-President of Marine Operations at
Celebrity Cruises, John Krousouloudis commented.
Meanwhile, another aspect of the cruise line's spring cleaning has been a show of clearing out its wardrobe, potentially to make way for this season's latest cruise fashions.
TravelMole reports that
Celebrity Galaxy is to enter into service for new line TUI Cruises in May 2009 under a new name.
