Carnival Cruises' newest vessel, the
Carnival Splendor, has arrived in Fort Lauderdale ahead of its US debut later this month.
The ship arrived last Friday and will shortly embark on sailings to Nassau, the Bahamas and the eastern Caribbean.
Gerry Cahill, Carnival Cruise Line's president and chief executive officer, said the company was delighted to be welcoming the ship to the US.
"Carnival Splendor features an exceptional number of innovative, guest-driven amenities that represent the continuing evolution of the 'Fun Ship' vacation experience," he commented.
As Carnival's largest ship, the Splendor features a range of new and exciting facilities, including an exclusive spa, a poolside capable of seating 1,400 people and a 24-hour pizzeria.
In related news, the cruise line last week won nine awards at Porthole Cruise Magazine's Reader Choice Awards.
Carnival was named as the best value-for-money cruise line and the best provider of short duration cruises, among other things.
