New geothermic energy that has been discovered in the Caribbean is expected to boost an island's tourism capacity, it has been reported.
According to TravelMole, the renewable energy discovery on the island of Nevis, a popular port of call for ships on
Caribbean cruises, will "transform" tourism in the region.
The supply of energy was located in the Nevis volcanic mountain range and supply from the source is anticipated to begin in early 2009.
Drilling has already commenced in the Spring Hill area for steam which will then be used to power generators in an environmentally friendly way.
Energy from the discovery can also be used to help provide a supply to Nevis' neighbouring island St Kitts.
St Kitts is located in the eastern Caribbean and those on
Caribbean cruises to the area are advised to wear light summer clothing thanks to the island's clement climate.
