Holidaymakers enjoying relaxing treatments such as Samsara aroma stone therapies and Balinese massages onboard ships belonging to the
Costa Cruises fleet can relax even more, knowing that they are doing their bit for the environment, according to one commentator.
AsisaTravelTips.com reports that in a bid to help with environmental protection and conservation
Costa Cruises is participating in International Earth Day today (April 22nd 2008).
In collaboration with its spa partner Steiner Leisure,
Costa Cruises is offering the Steiner Evergreen Earth Drive promotion in its onboard spas across 12 of its ships.
Cruisers who opt for spa treatments at the wellness centres will contribute $1 (50p) towards the planting of a tree for the Arbor Day Foundation courtesy of Steiner Leisure.
Roughly 10,000 trees will be planted in this promotion, with benefits offered by trees including cleaner waterways, air and habitat for humans and wildlife.
In 2006 the Samsara Spa was introduced onboard
Costa Serena and
Costa Concordia, with Costa Luminosa and Costa Pacifica set to be fitted with the facilities from spring 2009[.]
In 2005
Costa Cruises launched a project to monitor climate change in the Mediterranean alongside the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission.
