Family Staterooms

With Princess Cruises you have plenty of choice when it comes to family-friendly staterooms, ranging from luxury to value options. For great value there are the three and four berth inside and outside staterooms, though you have to remember these cabins consist of pull down beds, meaning a twin bed option is available but a king size configuration is not. The balcony cabins usually consist of a king/twin bed option and a double sofa bed. This is usually suitable for adults, though sometimes cabins can involve pullman beds so it is always worth double checking with your cruise specialist at the time of booking.

You can also choose from a variety of interconnecting cabins which are usually two cabins of the same grade, so inside to inside or balcony to balcony. To book interconnecting cabins an adult is required to be booked into each stateroom and they are often booked up very quickly during school holiday periods.

Destinations

Princess Cruises offer several cruises from Southampton to the Mediterranean and Baltic so that guests can enjoy a Princess cruise without the need to fly. Other exciting destinations visited by Princess Cruises include Alaska, North America, Caribbean and Asia. Fly Cruises are available from a range of airports including Glasgow, Sheffield, Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham.

Crown Princess, Island Princess, and Regal Princess will offer cruises around the UK, to North Europe and Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, and the Canary Islands. The rest of the fleet will be offering itineraries in Asia, the Caribbean, and North America as well.

Explore Japan on one of Diamond Princess’ exciting Asian itineraries, on which you could discover a Miso Brewery in Gamagori, taste delicious ramen noodles in Wakayama, or take in UNESCO world heritage site, Himeji Castle. Alternatively you could see more of the UK’s own beauty onboard Crown Princess, Sea Princess, or Pacific Princess.

Certain ships within the fleet also visit Iceland. Read our recent blog - Top Things to do in Iceland for some useful travel inspiration! Alternatively, check out our blog - 10 Must-Visit Cruise Line Private Islands to find out more about Princess Cays, Princess Cruises' private island.

Ocean Medallion

Princess Cruises presents its innovative new onboard technology: the Ocean Medallion. This is a small, wearable gadget that guests will reap all kinds of benefits from.

The Ocean Medallion devices weigh only 1.8 ounces, and are about the size of a ten pence piece - making them convenient and discreet. They can either be carried in a pocket or wallet, or worn in the form of a bracelet or necklace.

Read more about the Ocean Medallion on our blog - Simone Clarke's Medallion-Class Experience.

How does it work?

The Ocean Medallion contains sensors which collect a range of data from guests. This data is safely stored on a digital platform known as the Ocean Compass. You can access your information stored in the Ocean Compass cloud in the following ways:

  • Interactive screens found throughout the ship
  • Your in-cabin or in-suite television
  • The Ocean Medallion mobile app.

What are the advantages?

The technology has a plethora of uses which many guests will find helpful. Some of our favourites include:

  • Simple and quick embarkation and disembarkation - by uploading your documentation ahead of time, it is possible for the medallion to register your access on and off the ship.
  • Ordering food, drinks, and more to wherever you are on the ship - whether you want to pre-order drinks before a show, or need some extra sunscreen by the pool, the device makes it simple to get what you want, when you want.
  • Fast entry to your statement - the Ocean Medallion acts as a key for your accommodation, replacing key cards.
  • Make dining requests - you can enter information regarding allergies, wine preferences, and more before visiting the restaurants.
