Although this is a drive from Costa Maya, if you have the time during your stop over, it’s well worth the effort. A beautiful lake, the Bacalar Lagoon is simply breathtaking. Plus, there’s the opportunity to enjoy a tube ride across it- what more could you ask for!

Head to the incredible Aviarus Bird Sanctuary and discover an array of tropical birdlife from parrots to toucans. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon in the area, it’s popular with couples and families alike.

If you’re looking for a thrilling activity whilst on the island, head to the Flighthouse. Standing at an impressive 136 feet tall, it’s home to an array of aerial activities - from quick jumps to zip lining across the island.

From macaws to iguanas and monkeys, this wonderful eco-adventure park is a popular attraction on the island. Opened in 2003, it’s filled with native plants and wildlife.

Located in the heart of the city, this pretty park is home to a band stand and an array of tropical wildlife. Given to the city by a fruit plantation company, it’s within easy reach of other attractions in the town such as the Antigua Gobernacion de Limon.

Whether you love animals or simply want to learn more about these fascinating creatures, the Sloth Sanctuary of Costa Rica is a wonderful place to visit. An animal rescue centre within easy reach of Puerto Limon, it’s dedicated to the rescue and research of these unique animals.

If you’re looking to relax and unwind during your time in Puerto Limon, head to Playa Bonita. A picturesque beach with a rocky shoreline, coral reef and golden sand, it’s the ultimate place to relax or enjoy some snorkelling.

The Miraflores Visitor Center provides fantastic insight into the history of the Panama Canal, through films, exhibitions and observation decks overlooking the Panama Canal locks. Visitors can join guided tours and enjoy delicious cuisine and souvenirs.

Whilst stopping off on the Panama Canal, if you have the time, a trip to Casco Viejo is well worth the effort. Within the historic district of the city, it’s a designated World Heritage Site which was built in the late 17th century. With stunning architecture, restaurants, shops and more, this picturesque area is frequently listed as one of the top things to do whilst in Panama.

If you’re looking for breathtaking views out towards the city, head to Ancon Hill. spanning 199 metres, this impressive hill is a popular site to visit whilst in the area of Ancon or Panama City.

Alternatively, if you're looking for a more relaxing activity, head to El Murcielago Beach. Filled with restaurants, sun loungers, cafes and other amenities, this pretty beach is a wonderful place to relax during your stop off in Manta.

Whether you want to kite board, snorkel or scuba dive, you can do it all in Manta. A fun activity, the watersports at its main beach give you the perfect opportunity to discover its diverse marine life and enjoy a thrilling activity.

Opened in 1918, this quaint museum is a must visit if you're looking to learn more about the local area. With an array of displays and artefacts, you'll feel immersed into the local culture and its fascinating history.
