A lovely ship: very classy with outstanding service. Cabin was spacious and roomy!

We had a lovely time, came up to expectations in all respects. The cabin was perfect for us. Food, service and staff all wonderful and the weather was reasonably kind to us so we could get ashore at all destinations, particularly the Falkland Islands. We have an issue with another booking, so I would be grateful if someone can get back to me or my husband by email as soon as possible.

Our third cruise with Oceania was significantly better than previously . There as a very high standard all round from the staff,food,general maintenance and attention to detail by the management. The speciality restaurants were good but not top quality and a bit pseudo. Wines were acceptable and since we were on a drinks package we did not explore the wine list much. The wine that was bought from the wine list was very average and I suspect that the ship does not have good facilities for storage. We would cruise again with Oceania .

The cruise itself was well organised both pre cruise and whilst onboard, however we were annoyed that the Buenos Aires Hotel charged my credit card 233,926. 00 Arg Peso (£167. 81 equivalent) for the room which should have been charged to Oceania! Despite the hotel admitting they made an error I’m still waiting for a refund! We had some issues with my wife’s vegetarian meals, cauliflower soup on the first evening with chicken pieces in despite being assured that it was vegetarian. We had followed what we thought to be the correct procedures onboard to register her dietary needs but… following a discussion with the Restaurant Manager and Executive Chef things improved dramatically, with extra speciality restaurant bookings sorted for us. So, to summarise the food offering it was of a high quality, served with attention to detail and enough variety for 18 days onboard. We used a mix of Terrace Café, Aquamar Spa and Grand Dining Room as well as the enhanced Room Service menu. The latter was well organised with a phone call to say food was on its way! We had the ‘house select beverage package’ included and this worked exceptionally well for lunch and dinner drinks in all venues. The stateroom was spacious and well maintained, the wardrobe door had a habit of opening itself and putting the light on during the night, but given we were sailing very heavy seas across Drakes Passage I think we can forgive that! The steward kept the fridge stocked with soft drinks and water. Our stateroom in Concierge level gave us access to the lounge with anytime hot drinks and snacks with the Concierge available to assist as required (a conversation in Spanish with the hotel started the ball rolling for the charging error!). The bathtub was an unexpected treat, although we kept its use to a minimum whilst in protected oceans. The décor around the ship is outstanding, externally there is no evidence of rust anywhere on the structure, any that appears is quickly dealt with. ALL of the crew / staff are approachable and friendly as you move around the ship. The Antarctica Expedition Team were excellent in providing context and detailed explanations throughout the voyage, presentations before and during the Antarctic scenic cruising, which was adapted by the Captain and Team Leader to reflect the weather conditions and provide the best experience for guests. The entertainment in the evening was variable from excellent to average but this was not the sort of cruise where you necessarily went for the evening entertainment. However the Cruise Director Paul Baya was exceptional with an ‘international’ sense of humour who kept things going whatever was thrown at him, weather, delays at ports etc. Organisation for embarkation, disembarkation and tendering was, in our opinion, excellent although some guests complained clearly they’ve not had a truly bad experience on some other cruise lines. It was noticeable that on every occasion when leaving the ship and returning the General Manager Susannah was at the exit wishing guests well for the time ashore and welcoming them back. Overall shore excursions booked through Oceania were very well organised and, bearing in mind where we were, represented good value for money. A once in a lifetime trip with some amazing memories, a first time cruise with Oceania and it lived up to expectations.
