What happens if I test positive for COVID-19 before I sail and I am unable to travel?
If you test positive up to 14 days before your sailing date, you will be unable to travel. You’ll be able to change your cruise to another date for free.
Can I book a back-to-back cruise?
Back-to-back cruises will not be available.
Are face masks required onboard?
All customers must wear a face mask onboard. Customers must comply with this policy to be able to sail. Masks can be removed when a guest is inside their cabin or sitting down to eat or drink.
Are children allowed on these cruises?
Guests under the age of 18 are allowed to sail but will need to have a lateral flow test before departure. Infants under the age of 2, who are exempt from testing, will not be able to sail. Departures from Newcastle onboard Marella Explorer 2 are adult-only.
Will there be passenger meet-ups for solo travellers?
Marella will organise COVID-safe gatherings which will be optional for all those travelling alone.
Passport and Insurance Requirements
These Marella sailings are only for UK residents and all passengers will need a passport with at least six months validity. Guests must have comprehensive cruise travel insurance to travel with Marella Cruises.
In line with current guidance, you may only go ashore as part of a Marella Cruises excursion, for all cruises departing from the UK. Shore excursions can be booked for an extra charge, either pre-departure, or when you’re onboard via the Destination Services desk or the Navigate app. Guests will not be able to go ashore alone.
UK Coastal Cruises: Anyone aged 18-years and older will be required to have had both COVID-19 jabs at least seven days before travelling. Guests aged 2-17 can sail but will need to have a lateral flow test pre-departure. Infants under the age of two will not be able to sail as they are exempt from testing.
For international cruises sailing before 31st October 2021, including those departing from the UK and
returning from an international port. If you’re 18 or over on the day of sailing, you will not be able to sail unless you have had both doses of a UK government-approved vaccine a minimum of 14 days before your sailing date. All guests will need to take an antigen (rapid flow) test before boarding the ship.
