Our time on cruise was fantastic
Our time on cruise was fantastic
The itinerary, weather, ship, everything was brilliant. Love the adult only cruise, all inclusive and ship layout. Staff were as brilliant as usual with a super choice of eating venues. The free italian restaurant gave a good choice, with both free restaurants using a two day menu, which meant you could choose a favorite meal and not miss out in the other restaurant. We overall thought this was a good idea.
The holiday started off badly as we had no seat back entertainment for the 7 hour flight out to Oman. 6 seats were affected and we were offered £100 pp compensation. On arriving home and contacting Tui they have not had the decency to respond to 2 emails. This spoilt what in effect is one of the best companies for getting you to the ship as because its a package we had bonded luggage so no hanging around at the carousel. Omani immigration was very straightforward and we were soon on our way to Discovery.Boarding process was efficient and smooth and we were soon in our room. We had a junior suite which was very spacious and a larger balcony. everything in the room that you could need. ship is looking a little more tired than when we were on it in November. On this itinerary there were lots of sea days so our balcony was a little sanctuary when we just wanted a little quiet time. Our cabin stewards Federico and Arran made sure we had everything we needed throughout the cruise. food was all very good especially the afternoon tea. Ice cream is rationed only available between 12 and 3 pm. Other cruise lines we have used its available all day from lunchtime. We did'nt use any of the speciality dining options. ports of call were very different to Europe but this was the reason we booked to visit Petra, wadi Rum,Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
Booked this cruise 4 weeks before departure. Have been on the ship before and new what to expect. For where we have just been and what we have seen unbelievable value for money for what we paid. Only let down was the flight home from Corfu, all crammed in to a small plane with no leg room and no offer of food or drink unless we paid for it. We were treated like gods going out, coming back (in comparison) could have been shipped off to market.
An amazing cruise to very different places we'd been to before. We flew to Dubai, where the sip was in port two nights, & flew back from Jordan. We were very disappointed that we did not get a chance to go to Petra. We could have done with one more night on the ship in order to make this possible. We also visited Abu Dhabi, Sir Bani Yas, Manama in Bahrain & three ports of call in Oman - Khasab, Muscat & Salalah. All had a different feel to them. Many of the people spoke English, especially the taxi drivers. Apart from Bahrain, we toured by taxi, which are relatively cheap - but agree a price before you start your journey. The only place we felt unsafe was in Salalah, where we were swamped by taxi drivers all fighting for our custom. They need to take some lessons from taxi drivers in the previous ports of call & have a more organised system to get their fares. We were very impressed with the ship. It was the smallest ship we've been on, but the layout & facilities were very impressive. There was a good range of restaurants to choose from. There could have been a bit more variety in the buffet, as it didn't seem to change much from day to day. Passenger laundry facilities would have been beneficial as well. We will do another Marella cruise without doubt. All the staff were so friendly & helpful & it was such a relaxed atmosphere. We also liked the all inclusive & no tips aspect of it. Also there were a few extra little things they did to make my big birthday extra special.
Fantastic from start to finish. Embarked 11th April, disembarked 25th April Staff on board all exceptionally polite and made us feel like home from home. Plenty of entertainment to choose from, whatever suits you. Excellent on board entertainment team Bit disappointed with the visiting comedians, first weeks one marginally better than 2nd week Geordie fella. Visiting singer, Richard Hadfield was amazing, what a voice!! Favourite restaurant was Gallery 47, Mary and Jessie always looked after us. Weren't fussed on Bar 11, rather distant bar tender both times we visited, unfortunately. Photography was well organised, being able to view your photos using room card, on the monitors - much more eco-friendly than printing out loads of photos, Congratulations Marella. The whole ship was always spotless, credit to housekeeping. Have already booked for 2020!!
This was not a dear cruise and all inclusive , but food average poor choices in the evening the wine was very poor . Ship and crew fine has to be a 3 from us
Really enjoyed the cruise over all excellent the staff were great. Just 2 problems on arrival we were not greeted by anyone just a row of coaches with totally dis-interested drivers the lump we got never got out of his seat we just followed the people we were sat next to on the flight, god knows what anyone who could not lift there cases into the coach some of us help 2 older ladies who were travelling alone. The second less serious problem was the internet it was an extra come on its 2019 if you hire a tent it will have internet free get up to date Thomson.
Fabulous ship and excellent staff. Captain Chris Dodds and Gavin are a great duo. Hazel who works behind the bar is a credit to the company. Very clean all over. Food can’t be faulted.
