Rocky Mountaineer First Passage to the West Eastbound with Calgary Stampede
Day 1 Vancouver
Disembark your cruise and transfer to your hotel for one night. The rest of the day is at leisure. There will be tickets available to visit Vancouver Lookout. Enjoy panoramic 360 degree views of Vancouver, 553.16 feet above the city. The admission is valid all day so why not watch the sun setting over the mountains.
Day 2 Rocky Mountaineer – Vancouver to Kamloops
Your luggage will be collected from your room whilst you transfer to the Rocky Mountaineer station in Vancouver ready to board the Rocky Mountaineer. Settle in for the all-daylight journey. Travel from the coastal city of Vancouver to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. On today’s journey you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coast and Cascade Mountains, to the desert-like environment of the British Columbia Interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Breakfast & lunch included onboard. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake into Kamloops between 6:00pm and 7:30pm PT. Your hotel is allocated by Rocky Mountaineer and your luggage will be waiting in your room. Spend the evening exploring the city of Kamloops or relaxing in your hotel room. All hotels in Kamloops are of moderate standard: your hotel will be assigned post-booking.
Day 3 Rocky Mountaineer – Kamloops to Banff
Again your luggage will be collected from your room as you board the Rocky Mountaineer train at the Kamloops Station at 6:25am PacificTime, your journey continues eastwards to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Once again you will see a spectacular array of scenery as you travel across ranchlands, along rocky lakeshores, over high mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels that form part of the rich rail history of the Canadian Rockies. Today’s highlights include Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, the climb over Rogers Pass, Kicking Horse Canyon, the Spiral Tunnels and, of course, the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Breakfast & lunch included onboard. Your rail journey ends this evening upon arrival in Banff, between 8:00pm and 9:30pm MountainTime. Transfer to your hotel for two nights.
Day 4 Banff – Gondola Ride Banff National Park
Enjoy an excursion from Gondola Base to the summit. From the top you can view six stunning mountain ranges and the Bow Valley. From here you can walk along the boardwalk to the Sanson’s Peak.
Day 5 Banff – Calgary
Travel to Calgary today and enjoy a full day sightseeing before arriving in Calgary this afternoon and to your hotel for the next three nights.
Day 6-7 Calgary Stampede
You have tickets for the Calgary Stampede Two Day Thrill Package.
Day 8 Calgary to UK
Check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK.
