As summer approaches, there's light at the end of the tunnel after what has been a difficult period of time for the cruise industry. Not only are UK guests set to cruise for the first time in more than a year from May, a new cruise line has just been announced. The first British cruise line in 12 years, Ambassador Cruise Line will fill the hole left by the hugely popular Cruise and Maritime Voyages in 2020.
When will Ambassador Cruise Line launch?
Setting sail from April 2022, Ambassador Cruise Line will start the 1,400 guest capacity Ambience cruise ship. Cruises onboard Ambience are expected to go on sale from June 2021.

Who is Ambassador Cruise Line aimed at?
Offering no-fly cruises from Tilbury, Essex, this brand-new cruise line will be aimed predominantly at the over 50s with premium value on classic ships. However, unlike Saga, age is not a policy meaning guests can also enjoy multigenerational cruises, perfect for the summer holidays.
What will be onboard?
Having sailed as Regal Princess for Princess Cruises and Pacific Dawn for P&O Australia, Ambience will undergo a full upgrade and refurbishment before setting sail. Facilities onboard will include:
- 5 restaurants, 2 of which will be speciality venues
- 2 cafés
- 9 lounges
- Swimming pool, spa and fitness facilities
With a focus on being environmentally friendly, Ambience will also be fitted with innovative, emission-reducing technology. Other measures will include no single-use plastic and digital alternatives for printed menus and shore plans.
Where will Ambience sail?
Ambience will first take to the seas on a short-break cruise to Hamburg from the UK, followed by trips around the Norwegian Fjords and the British Isles. She will offer a full programme of cruises from May 2023, with cruises to fantastic destinations including the Baltics, Canaries, Cuba and the Caribbean.
How much will a cruise onboard Ambience cost?
When it comes to pricing for a full-board cruise on Ambience, a seven-night European sailing from Tilbury is expected to start at £850 per person.
