Cruise Cabin

Choosing the right cabin for your cruise.

Whether a first time cruiser or a seasoned expert choosing the right cabin can be a daunting decision. With every cruise line using different names and grades and cabins to suites every occasion, how do you pick the right one? Cruising offers fantastic holidays but no one wants to tell their girlfriend, wife or parents they booked the wrong rooms so here are a few tips.

Cabin or Stateroom?

Cabins and Staterooms are the same thing, different cruise lines prefer to use different descriptions.

How do I know what the grades are?

Each cabin grade comes with a different name and code depending on the cruise line. The easiest way to check out a grade is the ship cabin page such as the P&O Azura cabin details page. Here you will find the descriptions of each cabin type and where they are located onboard.

What type of cabin?

Most cruise ships offer Inside, Oceanview, Balcony cabins and Suites. These cabins can sleep anything from one person to ten depending on your needs. For some people cruise ships offer so much entertainment that all they need is somewhere comfortable to sleep and shower, this is where inside cabins are perfect, they also offer the best value onboard. Some of us require at least some natural light but either don't need or want a balcony and the additional cost and therefore these are a good option. The most desirable cabins are Balcony cabins, these are popular due to the outside space and desired locations.

Call our reservations team

This may seem either obvious, daft or too sales-like but this really is the easiest way to get the right cabin. Most of the sales team at some point in the past 12 months have been a cruise and many have worked onboard. These guys spend all day helping people choose he right cruise and can advise you on the right cabin depending on your needs, budget and preferences. If you are a first time cruiser, they won't sell you into the top suite (unless you ask them too) and if you enjoy outside space they won't suggest in inside cabin.
