World cuisine is a reflection of the far-reaching variations between communities and cultures. Many people exercise their passion for food without leaving their own homes, so the prospect of travelling to the source country and indulging in authentic local cuisine is a much loved indulgence for avid globetrotters and foodies.
A chef can spend a lifetime studying one particular style of cooking without ever learning all the nuances, so becoming a master of multiple disciplines is, at best, an unrealistic pursuit. However, this doesn’t mean that we can’t attempt to sample them all.
If you take all the subtle regional variations into consideration, there are hundreds of distinct cuisines currently enjoyed throughout the world, many of them continuing the traditions of antiquity. We have sourced the very best food travel sites to help navigate the gastronomic maze, which rightfully deserve an award for expertly providing us with a valuable service – helping us broaden our own taste horizons and exploring the world’s as-yet undiscovered eateries.
Note that we imposed a strict guideline during the judging process to exclude those which focussed solely on one country’s cuisine, instead awarding general food travel sites. There were many fantastic food blogs and sites out there which we’d heartily recommended but we had to leave out on this basis – otherwise, it’d be an incredibly long list!
