Holiday Features

• 3 Nt hotel stay in Tokyo
Mt. Fuji & Hakone tour with Bullet Train
Kobe Shore Excursion - Take an excursion from Kobe port to Himeji Castle & Gardens. Visit the stunning Himeji Castle where you will have free time to explore. Built in the 17th Century, it is one of Japan's most historic castles and is not only a Japanese national treasure, but also is registered in the World Cultural Heritage listings. The castle is surrounded by the famous Cherry Blossom trees (sighting not guaranteed) which can be expected to bloom in early April each year, creating a stunning picture of pink blossoms. You will then visit Shosazan Engyoji temple where lunch will be provided and there will be some free time to explore Engyoji's temple buildings, which are spread over a spacious, densely forested area on the mountain top. The temple was also a filming location in the movie 'The Last Samurai'.
Nagasaki Shore Excursion - Take a trip to the old abandoned island of Gunkanjima, or 'Battleship Island' from Nagasaki. The island was inhabited when coal was discovered beneath and mining began. It was home to more than 5,000 residents and had homes, schools, restaurants, shops and a hospital. When the mine shut down in 1974 all the residents had to leave the island, leaving the island abandoned. As it is very exposed to typhoons some of the facilities have deteriorated, giving an eerie atmosphere. For many years tourists could only see the island by circling on a boat, it is only more recently that direct access has been made possible and guests can now enjoy view points from 3 different observation decks. The boat trip to and from the island offer nice views of Nagasaki city.

The area of Kobe was expanded and today it includes Mount Maya, Sumaura Park, Sumaike park with a good spa and the famous Arima spa. Arima spa is one of oldest spas in Japan, whose earliest record is found already in Nihonshoki. Kobe is also famous for its Kobe beef, a very expensive meat delicacy.
9 Hiroshima
Hiroshima
Hiroshima is the capital of Hiroshima Prefecture, and the largest city in the Chugoku region of western Honshu, the largest island of Japan. It became best known as the first city in history to be destroyed by a nuclear weapon when the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) dropped an atomic bomb on it at 8:15 A.M. on August 6, 1945, near the end of World War II.

Busan
The second largest city in South Korea and the nation's primary seaport, Pusan is your gateway to a fascinating land whose culture is a unique amalgam of old and new. Modern high-rise towers dwarf ancient Buddhist temples, and the city's bustling business district offers a stark contrast to the serene grounds of Yongdusan Park. Pusan is, in short, a microcosm of South Korea, a nation whose startling economic success often obscures, to Westerners, one of Asia's most sophisticated and venerable cultures.

Southampton to Stockholm with two overnights in St Petersburg was an ideal cruise and the whole experience lived up to previous cruises with Oceania. Could find no faults at all and thoroughly enjoyed every moment apart from being reminded that many Americans do not understand queueing.

Wonderful crew and delicious food - top class pastry chef. Cabins are rather small (this is our third time on this type of vessel). Shore excursions are expensive and not particularly good value for money - on the Beijing to Tokyo cruise. Would suggest booking independent tours outside Oceania.

Could not fault Iglu for arrangements and transfers to ship. Problems started when we arrived in cabin 3003. Requested outside twin cabin with sofa bed for 3 ladies 75 plus. Double bed and ordinary sofa. After much complaining cabin was eventually changed to twin with sofa bed. Problem was when bed opened it touched vanity unit and two people could not gain bathroom or exit without climbing over sofa bed. This was totally unacceptable for 3 ladies. I pointed out the health and safety aspect should there be an emergency. Got no help whatsoever except offer of one single cabin at over £1,000. We endured this for rest of cruise. Would not recommend Oceania. Ok the food is ok, but that is about all. Entertainment was fair and that's being kind. I know it's a small ship. Exactly the same as Azamara Journey and that was excellent.
