Thomson Spirit Reviews

The cruise was the Pearls of the Aegean, from 14h of October to the 21st. The ship was based out of Corfu. We spent a previous week on Corfu at Agios Georgios at the Golden Beach Hotel, Excellent!! We sailed from Corfu for a day at sea to Agios Nikilaos on Crete, a lovely town, with lots of good cafes and tavernas. We took a tour to Elounda and the island of Spinalonga. Next stop was Kusadasi in Turkey from where you can go to Ephesus, a fantastic archaeological site, probably the highlight of the trip. A strike in Athens caused a change to Mykonos, a most beautiful beach and town. Then on to Piraeus for Athens, then Kakatolon for Olympus. However this was closed due to a strike, but a nice little town anyway. The ship is 30 years old and shows it in its design and fittings. It is however small compared to the Modern floating resorts, easy to find your way around. The food, entertainment and attitude of the staff was excellent. Cruise itinery was really interesting. I would recommend this cruise and ship without any reservation.

Holiday 1/7/11. Just back from first ever cruise. The Spirit is the right name for this great little ship, the crew couldn't do enough for us and every single one of them had a smile anytime you came across them on the ship, no matter how busy they were. The food and drink was first class, we were all inclusive and unlike other deals the drinks available weren't "local produce". The entertainment team were absolutely wonderful and every one of them sung live. Quite often one of the singers would be on 20 mins after a show singing somewhere else on the boat and covered all types of music. The housekeeping team were magnificent, rooms cleaned and towels changed twice a day. The balance between formal and informal dining was perfect. The Lido restaurant was very nicely presented and was a real restaurant and not a glorified cafe like other ships that other passengers had been on. Will definitely be back on the Spirit or sister ship the Celebration. again I cannot emphasise enough how enjoyable this cruise was. Huge thanks to every single crew member for a wonderful experience.

First time cruising but won't be our last. Went on the Pearls of the Aegean for 2 weeks for our silver wedding anniversary in May 2011. Weather was absolutely fantastic. I was a bit worried about movement on the boat but you couldn't actually tell that you were moving. I’d take some sea sickness pills just in case, if you have to get an injection on the boat for sea sickness it costs you £25. Booked a year in advance so got the ‘All Inclusive Package’ in with price, but will not do that next time will book last minute get the cruises a lot cheaper (half price). Staff were absolutely excellent. Was on deck 4 inside cabin was quite surprised to see how big it actually was. Cabin was cleaned twice a day. Food was good, entertainment was good. Met some really nice people on board. Boat is not posh in anyway really enjoyed it. Excursions are really expensive, did our own thing. For example went to Athens it costs 45 Euros each to go to the acropolis, we walked for 30 mins and got the train cost 2 Euros 80 return each and 12 Euros each to get into The Acropolis, but the day we actually went it was actually free to get in. Overall was an excellent holiday and will be returning on a Thomson cruise.

Having just returned from a week long stay aboard the Thomson Spirit cruising the Red Sea I can only describe the experience as "fantastic"! We flew out to Sharm-el-Sheik and boarded very swiftly and efficiently. Every person we encountered working on board was friendly and only too pleased to make our cruise very enjoyable. We had an outside cabin, which was very spacious and scrupulously clean. Wherever we ate our meals the food was presented and served to the highest quality. My only concern was, the quality of the entertainment was not as good as you would expect. We took advantage of three of the varied trips on offer and were not disappointed on any, especially the visit to the museum in Cairo and also the Dead Sea mud experience! We will definately be going again.

We have just got back from the Red sea cruise. What a great cruise it was SHIP… GREAT. STAFF… GREAT. FOOD… OUT OF THIS WORLD. We cruised with our 14yr old daughter and she loved it well done Thomsons

first time cruisers absolutely brilliant,very clean and tidy,staff really friendly,food excellent,entertainment outstanding,would highly recommend to anybody,lots to do plus quiet areas too,has everything you need A1*****

This ship is very good. The crew are amazing; they seriously cannot do enough for you. And I’m not kidding this ship is so clean it’s unbelievable. There are 2 pools a Jacuzzi and a waddle pool. There is a lido restaurant which is a buffet. I didn’t like this restaurant but the Compass Rose Restaurant was very, very nice. The cinema is good and has new films showing everyday. There is a casino which my dad and brother really enjoyed. The only thing I can complain about are the cabins we stayed in. It was a 4 berth and was terribly cramped. The Broadway lounge is very professional, even if shows aren’t your cup of tea you can see the effort the show team put into everything.

We have just returned from a 2-week Baltic Capitals cruise holiday onboard Thomson Spirit. The food was absolutely fantastic, something for everyone to enjoy. The weather was not too great but the company was brilliant. The Thomson crew were fantastic; very hard working staff.

My grand-daughter and I spent a week on Thomson Spirit on a Norwegian Fjord cruise. We could not fault the cruise holiday in any way. From booking with your company to being on the cruise ship and on the tours around Norway. The service was first class, the food was excellent and the entertainment first rate. The tours were terrific. We enjoyed every moment. This was my first time on a cruise holiday, but definitely not the last.

“Anna and I have just returned from a Red Sea cruise on the Thomson Spirit. The ship is very atmospheric (bingo, quizzes, etc). I would recommend that people pay the £15 supplement to eat in the fine dining restaurant, Siroccos, one night (fantastic food in an intimate setting). I would also highly recommend buying the 'all-inclusive drinks package's where available, some drinks are not included like branded whiskies and champagne, BUT it still works out to be worth it. The staff were fantastic, a special mention to Frank the master barman, who makes the best vodka martini I have ever tasted. We were lucky enough to go on 3 shore excursions, they really made this holiday a 'once in a lifetime experience'. My favourite was in Jordon. We drove into the Wadi Rum nature reserve, where we explored the desert on a jeep safari and got chance to ride camels and take tea with the Bedo.
