Nov 24 2019 Yes, this was luxury cruising. Verandah suite is a very large balcony cabin with marble fitted bathroom with twin sinks and a shower too. Top fittings everywhere. Excellent minibar service by cabin staff. Attentive without asking. No tipping sought, either here or anywhere. Dining was just lovely everywhere. The buffet was like a quiet restaurant on other cruises. Spacious with tables always available. Wine choices very good and varied, and readily served. All food requests prepared quickly and with lovely lively staff. Few used the restaurant for breakfast and this was the only let down on the whole 12 day trip. Comedy value was high though. We began counting the number of staff who inspected a food item coming out and trying to decide who it was to go to. With only about twelve tables in use there were plenty of staff and I counted six deciding who got the oatmeal. . Some management needed here, but food was great though. After two days of this fun we retired to the buffet and were just amazed at the quality, calm, and efficient experience. Evening restaurant dining was top quality also. Choices and service were great and the frequent opportunities to join a hosted table gave us many social evenings too. With only 400 guests we were often alone on corridors, lifts and in quiet bars. The afternoon tea was wonderful with food choices better than Cunard and the service was more attentive and personal. Many nice touches everywhere. The Square with daily newspapers, in full, available printed. fresh macarons every evening, wonderful coffee almost anytime. Staff to sort out your wifi problems and remembering your name for the rest of the cruise. Lovely lovely trip. Carambola beach with champagne and caviar in the surf - magic. The banana boat only a bit less so, though apart from the embarrassment of trying to get back in to the towboat, that was very jolly too. We met several people for whom this was their first cruise and they will struggle to appreciate others. We had been on about 10 cruise lines before, and Seabourn was in a different league. Yes it was expensive, but I will remember all of it fondly, and I do think it was worth the money. I would go again without hesitation. Saving already and I think we may cut down on lesser trips.

Excellent cruise in excellent (apart from Ketchican) weather. Well looked after. Very small matter not good - wife ill one evening - we asked for hot milk and toast to cabin - milk barely tepid and toast soft/damp. Main disappointment is flights home - if Iglu responsible, read on - if Seabourn responsible, please forward! We were routed from Anchorage to Denver to Toronto to Glasgow. Anchorage to Denver on United Airlines, old and very cramped plane, uncomfortable seats. Long wait in Denver. Then reasonable plane Air Canada, to Toronto, but 1 x hour late in leaving. Still long wait in Toronto, then reasonable flight Air Canada Rouge to Glasgow. However, no cases arriving at Glasgow, and still no cases 28 hours later! Not happy - spoiled any good feelings about cruise.

Nice friendly ship but the biggest let down is the inconsistency of service and the quality and temperature of the food being served. When asked for meat to be “well done “ you do not expect blood in excess to be coming from the meat. This happened on several occasions. Food was often served warm on a red hot plate which still doesn’t make the food hot. All of this was brought the the ships attention but continued over the course of the cruise Hand towel on one occasion had holes in. Plus side of ship, great coffee and fantastic service in the square, entertainment better than some top London shows. Suites very large and comfortable. Fantastic complimentary room service. The Thomas Keller Grill served excellent food.

Huatulco

Santa María Huatulco is a popular tourist spot for those cruising through Mexico due to the amazing indigenous Aztec architectural ruins in close by Parque Eco-Arqueológico Copalita. Here, visitors can explore pre-Spanish Mexican history by seeing the ancient temple and famous ceremonial ball game court, while the Bocano Del Río Copalita Museum boasts numerous wonderful artefacts obtained from the site.

Parque Eco-Arqueológico Copalita
The archaeological site of Parque Eco-Arqueológico Copalita provides a fantastic glimpse into the history of early Huatulco. Featuring uncovered temples and ball courts, the site also includes a museum and jungle trail to a lookout out on the cliff.

Famous for the cruise terminal building’s giant thatched roof resembling an Aztec pyramid, Puerto Chiapas drops you straight into the local culture like few other cruise destinations right as you step off the ship. Outside, you’ll be greeted to musicians, and locals selling their wares and cuisine as well as the ability to take tours to such wondrous tour destinations as the Izapa Mayan ruins, Tapachula city and the famous chocolate city.

Izapa Mayan Ruins
Found in Puerto Chiapas, the Izapa Maya ruins is a pre-Columbian Mayan archaeological site with an abundance of history to be found. Wildlife thrives in the area that spans over 1.4 miles, including jaguar, deer and eagles, to name just a few.
Tapachula City
The southern-most city in Mexico, Tapachula was founded by the Aztecs in 1486. It has since grown in culture, history and wealth, with the Soconusco Archaeological Museum presenting many major artefacts from over time, including a golden skull. The San Augustine church which was built in the 18th century is also a must-visit for insight into the culture of this vibrant city, as well as the Mexican festivals held throughout the year.
Puerto Quetzal

On Guatemala’s pacific coast, Puerto Quetzal is one of Central America’s most popular tourist spots. Serving as the gateway to such sought-after destinations as UNESCO-listed Antigua, volcanic Lake Atitlán and the wonderfully preserved Mayan ruins at Tikal, visitors will find plenty of must-see attractions all just a short ride from the port, making for a perfect day tour. Don’t forget to try milk straight from the coconut, or mixed with rum for a more traditional taste.

The deepest lake in Central America, Lake Atitlán is home to indigenous Mayan communities, with heritage of the tribe evident throughout lakeside towns, and opportunities to buy locally-made souvenirs and artwork.

Perhaps one of the most fascinating landmarks you could ever experience, the Mayan ruins of Tikal in Guatemala is one of the largest archaeological sites in the world. The temple stands at 47 metres high and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
Filadelfia coffee plantation
A short journey from Puerto Quetzal lies the fascinating Filadelfia Coffee Plantation. A plantation farming coffee beans since the late 19th century, it comprises a plantation, a hotel and more. There’s even the opportunity to take a coffee tasting tour or zip line.

A beautiful port town in the Gulf of Nicoya, Puntarenas features a combination of natural and manmade attractions. From the bustling Casa de la Cultura with its theatres, art galleries and other attractions to its wildlife sanctuaries and reserves, there’s something for everyone in this vibrant port town.

Learn more about the Costa Rican macaws at the captivating NATUWA Wildlife Sanctuary. Rescuing and rehabilitating these fascinating creatures, you’ll be able to get up close to them and discover what it takes to care for them.
Parque Marino del Pacifico
Fun for all the family, the Parque Marino del Pacifico not only features an aquarium with an array of tropical fish, sharks, turtles and manta rays but a splash pool, playground and gift shop. Giving you a welcome break from the heat, this attraction is well worth a visit whilst in
Puntarenas.
Curi-Cancha Reserve
In the Cordillera de Tilarán, close to Juntas, lies the Curi Cancha Wildlife Refuge. A private wildlife sanctuary, it preserves cloud forest and is one kilometres or so before the renowned Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Home to a variety of wildlife and plant life, this reserve is an extraordinary attraction to visit whilst in Puntarenas.

A quaint province in Panama, Colon has a rich history and beautiful scenery. Home to the Panama Canal Zone and beloved for its year-round sunshine, a visit to Colon has something for all tastes and ages whether you're interested in learning more about its past or the modern amenities it has to offer.

Fort San Lorenzo
Built in 1595 (from orders given by King Phillip II), Fort San Lorenzo is situated on the Charges River. A fascinating attraction that you can explore, they offer tours around it with knowledgeable tour guides who take you through its rich history.
Portobelo National Park
A quaint and breathtaking area, the Portobelo National Park has a village, a treasure house, the remains of Spanish forts and other captivating sites to see. A must-visit whilst in Colon, you can spend all day exploring it.
Marine Laboratory
The Galeta Marine Laboratory is located amongst a variety of marine and tropical ecosystems; from mangrove forests, to wetlands and coral reefs. Home to an array of wildlife, it offers educational programmes to visitors wanting to learn more about the rich flora and fauna of the local area.
Cartagena, Colombia
DAY 15
Cartegena’s colonial quarter offers old Spanish squares and architecture dating back to the 16th century full of churches, towers, markets and classically Latin rambling streets with that dash of Spanish feel. Here you can visit the Castillo San Felipe de Barajas fortress and Palace of Inquisition historical museum. Lying on Columbia’s pacific coast, cruisers can also explore coral reefs just off the sandy beaches by snorkelling.

Fortress
Built by the Spanish in 1536, Castillo San Felipe De Barajas underwent multiple expansions and dominates a large area of Cartagena’s city space. Guided tours of this magnificent structure are available, and a hike to the top provides stunning views of the city.
Historical Museum
Found in the El Centro area of Cartagena, The Palace of the Inquisition holds a grizzly history within its walls. The Spanish Inquisition carried out cruel means of punishment here, which is told through the museums exhibits including old traditional torture instruments.
Las Bóvedas
Located within the Old City, Las Bovedas grants incredible views of the Caribbean sea. Originally serving as dungeons, this fascinating structure showcasing the captivating history of the city comprises 47 arches and 23 domes.
Miami
DAY 19
The world’s most popular cruise port with plenty to explore before, after or as part of your cruise. Head to Miami Beach and South Beach to rub suntanned shoulders with Florida’s rich and famous on the golden sands before heading to the star-filled bars and celerity-chef restaurants lining the way. Alternatively, head to the Everglades National Park to spot alligators and many exotic birds in the deep swamplands just south of Miami city.
