Maderia and the Canaries - March 2012 Why do people still fly? Arrive at Soutampton - car collected, luggage whisked away, friendly port staff, on boarded within 35 minutes - beats airport queues. It was like coming home - Cunard make you feel so special. Food and beverages were to excellent standard - menus were innovative and never boring. Stateroom (never a cabin on Cunard) was comfortable and welcoming. Public rooms were comfortable clean and to high standard. You would never guess this was now the 'oldest' Cunarder now that QM2 has been refitted. OK - it suffered on its return from New York due to the bad weather and that did show in some areas but overall it was the usual superb standard. Cafe Corinthea, Chart Room and Commodore Club are the places to be. Try the Martini Mixology - great fun and a little bit 'squiffy'!! Entertainment can be a bit hit and miss on Cunard - and this was the same - guests were excellent but the onboard team had a patchy response. Overall - loved it and already looking for the next one - if you get the chance try Cunard - not sure we could look anywhere else - although it may not be the right one for young families and those under 30 - but for a restful, stress free and relaxing holiday it is hard to beat,
