Cunard - Queen Elizabeth

Cunard Cruises - Queen Elizabeth

Cunard unveil plans for an addition to its fleet after the departure of the much loved QE2.

Cunard - Queen Elizabeth

Cunard have announced plans for an addition to its well celebrated stock of grand cruise liners. 2010 will see the launch of the brand new ship, Queen Elizabeth.

Following, the retirement of the much celebrated Queen Elizabeth 2, scheduled for November 2008, the launch of this vessel will bring the companies floating stock back up to 3.

The announcement of the planned 92,000-ton Queen Elizabeth is in response to the strong booking performance recorded with the Queen Victoria. The ship is to be the second largest cruise ship ever built in Cunard's pioneering, luxury cruise history.

Queen Elizabeth will be a 2,092 passenger liner constructed by Italian company Fincantieri’s at their Monfalcone yard. A total estimated cost of €500 is being paid and demonstrates that Cunard are sparing no cost in creating a liner that will impress and deliver.

Cunard have become a beacon for luxury and style within the cruise industry and offer its standard array of quality facilities and entertainment. Ballrooms, fine dining and the trademark, Cunard White Star Service™ are no doubt bound for its latest showpiece, Queen Elizabeth.

When the Queen Elizabeth is brought in to service, currently scheduled for 2010, she will sail alongside her sister ships Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria.

Queen Elizabeth will continue the long standing tradition of providing the highest in opulence, service and luxury for its discerning travellers. Externally Queen Elizabeth will display the classical charm of the companies’ distinctive liner heritage. A black hull, gleaming white superstructure and distinctive red funnel will signal to all the royal roots of this grand liner as is the cunard tradition.

As with the other great Cunard ships the Queen Elizabeth will have her base in Southampton, Hampshire and will no doubt set sail to a magnificent crowd and a royal send off on her maiden voyage during 2010.
