This Week In Cruise sees the announcement of some big news from one cruise line, more flights to the Northern Lights [hey, that rhymes] and drinking wine with the experts.

Thomson Cruises have announced that they will be making a big announcement soon, well sort of soon, maybe soonish! Managing Director, Fraser Ellacott, said "exciting plans" would be revealed in three or four months time.
"Clearly we have a need to modernise for the longer term," he went on to say. Apparently they are considering upgrading the new fleet and maybe even brining in new ships, but we'll have to wait in anticipation, due to this need to blurt out that something might be happening soon, even though he wasn't sure when or what it is yet. I honestly can't wait to find out what it is... *yawn* ...what was I talking about?

The Northern Lights are a pretty spectacular, only slightly predictable natural occurrence that can be seen in the Arctic Circle at certain times of year. In order to cope with the demand from Brit's local cruise line/delivery ship/passenger ferry Hurtigruten are putting on some charter flights for a variety of cruises between October and December.
The cruises on offer include 4, 5 and 11 night itineraries and even an astronomy voyage, including guest speakers. The working ships offer a very different cruise experience and a unique way of seeing the Norway, the fjords and the Northern Lights.

And here comes the good stuff, Silversea Cruises, the luxury all-inclusive cruise line with one of the best wine cellars are sea, has announced plans for a Wine Series enrichment programme on six voyages in 2012.
Wine experts Lyn Farmer and Richard Nurick are expected to host the series, and being on an all-inclusive luxury line, this will be well worth applying. I envisage many a cruiser becoming incredibly knowledgeable about the wine they are drinking, then forgetting by the morning due to the amount they've had.

So, after some big news, some natural mood lighting and a elegant evening of enrichment and vino this week, what could next week possibly offer to top this?
