Princess Cruises' new ship Regal Princess was set to make her maiden voyage on 2nd of June 2014, but due to faster building process she will arrive two weeks ahead of schedule.
Regal Princess will be the sister ship of Royal Princess who arrived in June this year. Carrying 3,560 guests she has a variety of innovative features including the dramatic over-water SeaWalk, a stunning atrium and poolside cabanas. Regal Princess is set to have all this and more.
Due to her construction running well ahead of schedule, two new Mediterranean sailings have now been released for sale and her maiden voyage will be on May 20th.
The first sailing will be a Venice to Athens cruise with stops at Corfu, Mykonos and an overnight in Istanbul. The second sailing added is a six day sailing from Athens to Venice departing on May 27th taking in Kusadasi, Santorini and Dubrovnik.
Speculation has been circulating as to what would happen to those already booked on Regal Princess’ original maiden voyage in June. Princess Cruises have now announced that anyone booked on the previous maiden voyage will automatically receive a duplicate booking on the new May 20th sailing. Guests have until November 15 to decide if they wish to take the new cruise date or keep their existing reservation.
Paul Ludlow, UK Director of Princess Cruises said "The construction of Regal Princess has been progressing very well and we're delighted the ship will be ready to welcome passengers even earlier than originally planned. We know that this beautiful new ship will impress passengers just as much as her sister ship Royal Princess has this year."
