Cunard continue their 175th anniversary year celebrations with a special salute from the RAF Red Arrows. The leading aerobatics team are set to perform an impressive aerial display to send off Cunard’s luxury flagship; Queen Mary 2 as she sets sail on a celebratory crossing of the Atlantic.
Queen Mary 2 will sail from Southampton to her homeport of Liverpool and then on a special transatlantic voyage on Thursday 2nd July this year. The cruise commemorates Cunard’s first transatlantic crossing with Britannia 175 years to the day, and will include the same stops in Halifax and Boston before sailing on to New York.
The Red Arrows, who are also celebrating this year with their 50th anniversary of precision flying, will take to the skies at 15:05 for a highly skilled display of two halves featuring synchronised formations and a number of new moves. The highly anticipated show will include formations to honour the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain and the continued service of securing the skies from the Royal Air Force.
“This is Cunard’s opportunity to say thank you to Southampton and we hope everyone can join us for what promises to be an unforgettable event.” – Angus Struthers, Cunard Marketing Director
Celebrations will continue in Liverpool with an elaborate fireworks display and schedule of free events throughout the city.
