Passengers onboard P&O Cruises'Oceana
and Artemis ships will soon be able to enjoy a smoke-free environment.
From October of this year smoking will be banned on these vessels, in an effort to create a cleaner and more pleasant atmosphere for passengers.
However, smoking will still be permitted on private cabin balconies and a number of outside smoking zones will be constructed to accommodate passengers.
Nigel Esdale, P&O Cruises
managing director said that Britons had become accustomed to living in a smoke-free environment and pointed out that the onboard ban was a step towards healthier holidays.
"Ventura and Oceana are both child friendly and between them could have over 1,000 children on board at any one time, therefore we want to ensure they are clean air on board as well as clean ocean air out on open deck," he commented.
Ships currently operated by the cruise line include the Aurora
, Arcadia and Oriana
