has announced plans to introduce a number of "once in a lifetime" shore excursions.
The new excursions available later this year will be aimed at the more "adventurous" passengers and are expected to include experiences by air, land and sea.
Speaking yesterday (July 31st), P&O Cruises
managing director Nigel Esdale said that more and more people were opting to take cruising holidays and expected more than just a guided coach tour on shore.
"We can now offer them experiences that simply would not be possible on any other type of holiday. In a two week Mediterranean cruise they could charter a private yacht, go zip-wiring, learn to cook an authentic Italian specialities and make their very own fragrance," he explained.
Options available to passengers include the opportunity to drive a Ferrari through Italy, make perfume in Cannes and ride a snow truck in Reykjavik.
