Norwegian Cruise Line
has announced that 3 of its ships will be deployed in Europe next year.
A group of the cruise company's Jewel-class ships - Pride of Hawaii
, Norwegian Gem
and Norwegian Jewel
- will be sent to the continent in response to the popularity of European voyages.
Pride of Hawaii, to be renamed Norwegian Jade, will be the first Norwegian Cruise Line
ship to grace the continent's shores.Norwegian Cruise Line's
pioneering concept of Freestyle Cruising is perfectly suited to the laidback sophistication of a European cruise.
Voyagers can enjoy the freedom to dine wherever and whenever they choose, taking full advantage of the line's commitment to flexibility.
Following a renaming ceremony in February, the vessel will commence a 21-day cruise from Barcelona on March 30th before proceeding to a diverse array of ports including Istanbul, Venice and Dubrovnik. Norwegian Jewel
- a seasoned visitor to Europe - will tour the Baltic capitals from May, calling at Copenhagen, Tallinn, Helsinki and Stockholm.
Meanwhile, Norwegian Gem
will embark upon journeys around the Western Mediterranean, calling at cultural hotspots including Rome, Florence and Valletta.
"The combination of our new and varied itineraries, the choice of 3 new sister ships, along with an extended season, will make for an unforgettable Freestyle Cruising experience for guests who explore Europe with us in 2008," said Colin Veitch, President and Chief Executive Officer of Norwegian Cruise Line
