All Leisure Holidays, the company behind Voyages of Discovery, and Cruise & Maritime Voyages have announced that the Mv Discovery is set to join the CMV fleet.
Following a scheduled dry-dock refit, the Mv Discovery will join the Cruise & Maritime fleet in February 2013 offering a range of UK regional departures and Med fly-cruises. The 700 passenger ship will replace the Ocean Countess and following her re-fit, will be the most up-to-date ship in the fleet, alongside the popular Marco Polo.
Voyages of Discovery will continue to operate the ship and manage bookings until next February and the cruise line will concentrate on their new ship, Mv Voyager, when she sets sail on her debut season in December this year.
This move is a clever piece of business from both cruise lines, as the Mv Discovery is certainly an upgrade for Cruise & Maritime and will no doubt be a huge hit for the cruise line, while Voyages of Discovery will have time to bed in the new Mv Voyager before Discovery leaves the cruise line. In a time of new super liners popping up on a regular basis, it's a welcome move to see the more intimate ships being given a new lease of life.
