MSC Cruises have decided to follow in the footsteps of several cruise lines and will offer a selection of all-inclusive drinks packages on their Mediterranean and Northern Europe cruises.
The packages vary from 24 hour unlimited choice, a premium 24 package and a meals only package, with options for both adult and children in each selection. Prices vary from $13 per day for the meal-only children's package to $61 per day for the adult premium package.
The all-inclusive drinks packages offer great value to anyone looking to enjoy a few cocktails, beers or wine by the glass and for kids who love a mocktail, milkshake or fruit juice, though it doesn't include wine by the bottle — which may put some people off. Among the obvious advantage of not having to worry about keeping tabs on your bar bill during your cruise, knowing that the whole family is covered, wherever they are onboard is bound to appeal to many.
These packages offer great value, though in order to stop the old trick of paying for one person while many benefit, everyone staying in your cabin — or travelling in your party — will have to book the package. The drinks packages also have to be purchased before you travel — either with MSC or through your travel agent (us) — and must be for the duration of the cruise.
In addition to the Med and Northern Europe, the Cheers! Package also is available on cruises to Abu Dhabi and The Emirates, the Caribbean and North & South America.
The Allegrissimo packages are all available 24 hours a day on an unlimited basis, whereas the Cheers! package is only available during meal times in the restaurants, but is unlimited during that time. Details of the packages are below, the prices are per day, per person:
Allegrissimo Premium:
The Allegrissimo Premium package includes unlimited wine by the glass from the applicable menu, draught and bottled beer, soft drinks, mineral water and all drinks from the bars and mini-bar (except on MSC Melody). The child package includes unlimited soft drinks from the bar, including energizers, fruit juices, virgin cocktails, hot drinks, smoothies and milkshakes as well as mineral water in the cabins. Non-alcoholic drinks and snacks from the mini-bar are also included. Adults and children can also enjoy all items from the Gelateria menu, Chocolate Bar and pastry shop, plus mineral water in the cabins. Adults $61 per day, children $31 per day.
Allegrissimo:
The Allegrissimo package offers unlimited wine by the glass — with a choice of two whites, one rose, two reds, two sparkling wines — draught beer, soft drinks, mineral water and a wide selection of drinks and cocktails from the bar, as well as takeaway ice cream in a cone or cup. The children's packages includes unlimited soft drinks, mineral water, fruit juices, hot drinks, virgin cocktails, smoothies and milkshakes, as well as takeaway ice cream in a cone or cup. Cheers!:
The Cheers! package offers great value for those who only tend to indulge in a drink with a meal. The package benefits from unlimited wine — two whites, one rose, two reds and two sparkling wines — draught beer, soft drinks and mineral water in the main dining rooms only during lunch and dinner. Children can enjoy a selection of soft drinks during dinner too. Adults $24 per day, children $13 per day.
