Emerald Waterways New Ships for 2017

Date Posted: 04 Oct 2016
The four-star river cruise line, Emerald Waterways, is river cruising’s newest member and has already made an incredible impression on Europe’s rivers. Their award-winning ‘Star-Ships’ have become known for their contemporary furnishings, great service and innovative features such as the infinity pool/cinema.

Looking to grow further and provide more river cruises, Emerald Waterways will expand their fleet with two new ships. Replacing their chartered A-ROSA ship in France, the Emerald Liberte is introduced to provide Emerald-exclusive Rhone and Saone cruises.

Carrying 138 guests compared to 182 on their Star-Ships, the Emerald Liberte is significantly more intimate but still includes features such as the sun deck with Sky Barbecue and golf putting green, pool/cinema, Horizon Bar and Lounge, Reflections restaurant, wellness area, fitness area and hairdresser.

Onboard the Emerald Liberte, guests will sail the 7 nights Sensations of Southern France itinerary from Lyon to Arles. Explore the Ancient Roman architecture of towns and villages such as Arles and Avignon, enjoy the Provencal scenery and exceptional Burgundy wine in Macon and Tournon, and browse the culinary delights of Lyon.

Heading to an all-new region for Emerald Waterways, the tropical Douro river will be available to cruise onboard the Emerald Radiance, the smallest ship with just 112 guests. To properly match the standards typical of a Douro river ship, the Emerald Radiance is designed spaciously and is fitted with an outside pool instead of the rear-facing infinity pool to make the most out of Portugal’s weather.

Experience the Secrets of the Douro, a 7 night itinerary which takes you along the Douro river from Porto to Salamanca and back. Discover the historic villages of the Douro valley including Lamego and its Baroque sanctuary. In Salamanca, see the many beautiful medieval buildings as well as Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and other landmarks. Wine lovers can enjoy a tour of the Douro Museum in Regua, which showcases the regions wine making and features a wine bar.
