Over the next few weeks Cunard and P&O Cruises' ships will boast round the clock sports thanks to their forthcoming new TV channel, Sport 24.
The new channel in being distributed by IMG Media and will show sports in the bars and public lounges onboard all three of Cunard's ships and the seven P&O Cruises ships. Sport 24 is the first dedicated 24/7 sports channel created specifically for the cruise industry.
Cunard and P&O Cruises Executive Vice President of Operations, David Noyes, said: "Sport was one of the true highlights of 2012 and continues to play a large part in people's lives."
The channel's schedule will be known in advance, making it easy for passengers to keep up with their favourite sports while onboard. During 2013 Sport 24 has pencilled in coverage for Premier League & Bundesliga football, the Formula 1 season, the British & Irish Lions rugby tour, Wimbledon & the US Open tennis and the Australian Open.
If the channel takes off, how long until we see Sport 24 onboard Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and other cruise lines under the Carnival umbrella and how long until the cruise lines like Royal Caribbean, or sports broadcasters like ESPN join the bandwagon?
This is great news for the sports lovers out there and means you don't have to miss the important games and races while relaxing on your holiday. I look forward to sitting back with a beer, watching the big games while I'm away.
