Passengers onboard the Princess Cruises
ship Crown Princess
could be feeling even more like royalty due to the company's latest idea.
When the new ship set sail just two weeks ago, it carried onboard $1 million (?550,000) worth of diamonds, including a 100-carat four-piece set.
Nicknamed the Crown Jewels, four lucky ladies will get the chance to pose for portraits with the diamonds on each of the Crown Princess'
first eight voyages.
"Diamonds are indeed a girl's best friend, and we are pleased to offer passengers the opportunity to truly feel like 'red carpet royalty'... right down to the borrowed jewels," said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises' senior vice president of customer service and sales.
"It seems appropriate to offer our own Crown Jewels aboard this spectacular new ship."
For any passengers feeling particularly frivolous, Princess Cruises
is also offering the Crown Jewels for sale.
The Crown Jewels collection includes a necklace, earrings, a bracelet and a ring and is valued at $585,000 (?320,000).
