Costa Cruises attracts 1m passengers

Costa Cruises is performing well so far in 2008, one commentator has noted.

According to Boarding.no, the Italian cruise line has so far achieved more than one million customer bookings.

Moreover, Costa Cruises has achieved this figure five weeks sooner than it did in 2007.

Costa's group chairman Pier Luigi Foschi attributed the achievement to a "healthy trend" in global sales which serve to reflect the "increasing popularity" of its cruises.

"We have done even better than last year, when we celebrated the record of one million customers, set in mid-July, for the first time in Europe. This is a truly excellent performance, which consolidates and confirms our position as Europe’s number one cruise line," Mr Foschi added.

By the end of 2008, Costa Cruises aims to have increased its total passenger number by six per cent – hitting the 1.5 million passenger mark.

Costa Cruises recently broke another record, for the longest line of fresh pizzas in Australia. The event was marked in the Guinness Book of World Records.
