New innovative ideas are helping Celebrity Cruises
support the environment by reducing its carbon footprint, it has been revealed.
According to the president of the company Dan Hanrahan, Celebrity Solstice
is at the forefront of these changes.
The vessel is the world's first to generate power through the use of solar technology, while its windows have been fitted with film to ensure that air conditioning is more efficiently used.
Speaking to TTG, Mr Hanrahan said: "At Celebrity Cruises, we are constantly exploring innovative ways to increase our energy efficiency and minimise fuel consumption, all in the interest of reducing costs and decreasing our carbon footprint.
"We even replaced the ice cubes in our buffet areas with chilled river rocks, which significantly conserves water usage and energy consumed in producing the ice, and creates a much more attractive presentation."
Meanwhile, the Solstice has also seen LED lighting introduced, while its hulls have been painted with a silicon coating to enhance the way that it glides through water.
Alternatively, those looking to take a break with Celebrity Cruises could opt to go on the Celebrity Century
or the Celebrity Mercury
