Royal Caribbean have announced award-winning musical CATS will replace Hairspray on Oasis of the Seas.
After launching in 2009, Oasis of the Seas will have her first uprade in October 2014. During her refurbishment Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Broadway musical CATS will be installed onboard and showcased at various times on a one week cruise.
Hairspray has been a huge hit with guests on Oasis of the Seas but due to a high number of repeat guests and the need to keep up with demand, Royal Caribbean will be changing the Broadway theatre option.
CATS is one of the longest running productions on Broadway and has won numerous prestigious awards including seven Tonys, an Olivier and a Grammy.
Lisa Lutoff Perlo, Executive Vice President of Royal Caribbean International said “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Really Useful Group to bring one of the world’s most beloved musicals to Oasis of the Seas. Adding CATS to our already amazing line up of Broadway musicals such as Hairspray, Chicago: The Musical, Saturday Night Fever and Mamma Mia exemplify our commitment to bringing top quality entertainment to our guests at no extra cost.”
Oasis of the Seas will visit Europe for the first time in October as she goes into dry-dock in Germany before sailing European itineraries from Barcelona and taking a transatlantic cruise back to Fort Lauderdale.
