An around Britain cruise that has reportedly been a long time coming, has formally been announced by P&O Cruises
Publishing its 2009 Preview Edition brochure, sailings in 2009 will include visits to 235 destinations in 82 countries and an inaugural round-Britain cruise itinerary.
The cruise will take place onboard Artemis and for 11 nights will call at Leith for Edinburgh, Invergordon, Kirkwall in the Orkney Islands, Moville, Greenock, Dublin and Falmouth.
"For a brand that has brought the world to the door of British passengers for almost 170 years, it is perhaps long overdue and fitting for us to visit the British Isles," P&O Cruises managing director Nigel Esdale said.
In another move designed to reassure cruise passengers of the cruise line's commitment to the UK market, new P&O
was last week christened by Oscar-winning British actress Dame Helen Mirren.
Dame Helen abseiled down the side of the boat and cracked a bottle of champagne on the ship's exterior in an unusual naming ceremony.
