Summary:  We have just had the most fantastic cruise on Melody. OK so it's not the last word in size and luxury like the new ships, but it was spacious, immaculately clean, had friendly helpful staff and delicious food both in the restaurant and the buffet. We visited lots of different countries had fantastic experiences and would love to travel on Melody again.

Summary:  I'd read a mixture of reviews before my trip on Melody on the 31 March and so I thought I would add a few words. It is a small, old ship but despite that you couldn't fault the holiday. The staff gave 100% - I only wish I had half the energy of the entertainment staff! The shows were in short bursts, which was a shame. There was other entertainment in different bars, pool area etc. The weather was mixed so pack a sweater just in case! We enjoyed the food and the relaxing atmosphere a small ship brought. On larger ships you can be lost in the volume of people. Black Sea - We visited Rome, Yalta, Odessa, Istanbul, and Naples. Due to adverse weather conditions we were unable to stop off at Messina in Sicily and Sorrento, Italy. It was disappointing but couldn't be helped.

Summary:  Just got back this week from our cruise to the Eastern Med on MSC Melody. It was a fantastic experience with the most friendly, helpful staff, delicious food both in the Galaxy restaurant and the buffet and the ship could not have been cleaner. We were encouraged to use the hand sanitisers throughout the ship to avoid cross contamination. The cleaning staff were constantly cleaning, sweeping and polishing to keep the ship looking immaculate. There was cold water, ice, teas and coffee on tap 24hrs a day all free. The drinks worked out a bit expensive but we prebooked vouchers for soft drinks, beers and wine which made it a little bit cheaper. The destinations were incredible and we did a couple of excursions and then did our own thing for the rest of the ports so it was really good. Research your ports of call beforehand and make lots of notes, maps etc as we did and it can work out just fine. For example when we docked at Piraeus we had found out beforehand that the Metro station for Athens was about a 20 minute walk on the other side of the harbour, ticket was 1.40 euro each and within another 10 minutes we were at the bottom of the Acropolis, 12 euro each entrance fee and we saw everything we wanted to for a fraction of the cost. I loved the Melody, although much smaller than the big luxury ships it was friendly and although fully booked, never seemed crowded. Entertainment was excellent too. Cabins were of a very good size and have been recently updated. I had a wonderful time and would go back on Melody again tomorrow!

Summary:  I was on board the MSC Melody for the transatlantic cruise from Brazil to Italy on 13th – 27th Mar 2010. I found the staff very friendly and the cabins were a good size and very clean. I, being a single traveller and a pensioner, expected a small cabin, but I had a very comfortable double bed. There was a great variety of workshops, exercises and games. The time passed so quickly. We had an initiation ceremony as we crossed the meridian, great fun and games. A choice of restaurants for breakfast & lunch, and a 7 course evening meal. The entertainment was varied and excellent. The whole ship was very clean. Unfortunately not all the passengers found using the hand dispenser a necessity, but not the crews fault. MSC for me, I'll be back for the next transatlantic. Cabin 6009.

Summary:  In Barcelonia first impression the ship was very clean when we boarded her crew was plesant curtious towards us .we were shown to our cabin and then we toured the ship to find out where things were pools . outer decks ect we were told a fire drill was at 1500 all to attend wearing your life jacket at first a bit of a shambles people just carrying them then things were sorted as soon as an officer arrived and took over the rest of the cruise went just right for us the crew were briliant IE. the cabin crew the waiters couldnt do enough for you then are mostly from other countries not europians some have been on board for past 8 months plus but still a smile on thier faces being our first cruise we dont know any better but we did have a good time but we think that ther should be coffee/tea makings in all rooms so any time of day you can have a cuppa with out having to pay for it and have the waiter /waitress carry it to you diffrent on deck / at the pools /lounges you have this in most hotel rooms all over the world.
