Rating = 5 Food, staff, cabin, included excursions, We’re excellent. But on board pianist was Poor, no interaction with guests at all. Also, There was no social / music activities Organised at night or during cruise days When wet and unable to use outside deck, Except one quiz night. Every other cruise We have been on has entertainment or activities Organised for night time and cruising time

Great itinerary cruising up the Rhine from Cologne to Basel, helped by the very good weather in late August 2018. Excursions in Strasbourg with fascinating guide and through Breisach and the beautiful Black Forest to the lakeside at Titisee. The best was the tour of the Swiss Alps, boarding the train from Interlaken to Schynige Platte for the stunning views of the Jungfrau and the Eiger and later walking around the lakeside at Lucerne. The cuisine on board was good in the evening with 7 course meals, but breakfast was often lacking in variety, with poor service. Our only disappointment of the cruise was the poor level of service generally. The waiting staff, reception desk and tour guides seemed only to be able to follow their own procedures, not deal with problems. For example they were unable to seat 5 of us at dinner the first evening or subsequently in the specially restaurant, although this would have been quite simple to re-arrange the table. The tea and coffee facilities in the lounge often don't work or ran out of cups. They switched off the lights on the dance floor at 10:30, even though we were still dancing to the live musician. Riviera need to improve their customer service training and look at how other cruise lines serve their customers - always offer an alternative solution, not just an apology.
