Hurtigruten offer a genuinely unique cruise experience. These are working ships, which deliver freight, mail and passengers to remote communties throughout the Norwegian Fjords, Greenland and Antartica.
These voyages of a lifetime offer high standards of cuisine, the menus taking advantage of fresh, seasonal ingredients and are served in relaxed, informal surroundings. A cafe is available on many voyages as are a selection of bars - the restaurants are also fully licenced.
The empasis onboard is on relaxation and enrichment, and thus moves away from commercial entertainment. The aim here is to get closer to the unique environments, and to share this with fellow travellers. The Explorer voyages have lectures offered throughout the voyage.
MS Fram is the newest ship in Hurtigruten's fleet, and is specifically designed for expedition voyaging - in Greenland in the summer, Antartica in winter.
The restaurants onboard, including the buffet and bistro are relatively informal and fully licenced. Hurtigruten are proud of their environmental heritage and as such source locally available, fresh produce to serve onboard.
Dining is normally at a set time, at a reserved table, and is a great time to discuss the day's explorations. Also featured are bars and cafes.
