The Hurtigruten (formerly known as Norwegian Coastal Voyage) fleet have their own individual style, though all offer an immersive explorative cruise experience. Life onboard is relaxed and informal, though service standards are high as the crew take much pride in their work.
Some of the fleet remain as working ships, as such a Hurtigruten cruise is often a rich experience of both Norwegian and Arctic life.
Dining in the main restaurant in the evenings is a relaxed informal affair, menus are planned around fresh, seasonal ingredients and take advantage of local produce to satisfy healthy appetites stimulated by the fresh sea air. There is also a 24 hour cafe for snacks and drinks. There are also a selection of bars and lounges where drinks are available.
The emphasis here is not on big glitzy shows, as evenings are spent discussing the days events with fellow travellers, often swapping stories of Whale sightings or sharing pictures of the amazing views captured during the cruise. Occaisionally, there maybe some live music onboard in the evenings though.
There's a small fitness room onboard, and a small pool.
