This ship probably has the most loyal following (just look at their facebook page). We have been on this ship twice, and admittedly she is not a luxurious liner, she is comfortable. The food is good (I would readily compare the food to a 4* holiday hotel rather than to other cruise line ships, where the food can be more 'gourmet'). The entertainment is good and its entertaining! The biggest and most important feature is that this must rate as one of the friendliest ships at sea - from the Captain who takes a promenade around the decks chatting to the customers, to the guy who welcomes you aboard with the biggest smile, to the bar staff, in fact all the staff exude genuine warmth. This friendliness rubs off on the customers who actually talk to each other and to my mind this is what cruising is about, meeting new friends, visiting interesting places and having fun (and all inclusive helps) We will cruise on Island Escape again.

We have just returned from a 2 week cruise on the Island Escape from Palma on the 9th July. May we just say that for the reviews we have read from the people who travelled in May when the weather was bad, don't knock the ship, just book your next cruise a little later when the weather is glorious, and we didn't have one day of bad weather so enjoyed the day at sea. This is our 7th cruise on the IE and each one has got better. We would like to put in writing that Ross was excellent as usual and the show team were one of the best that we have seen on any of our previous cruises. The cabin staff work tirelessly to ensure that your cabin is clean and tidy and always have a smile and good word when they see you. The Island Restaurant staff are always ready to help and look after your every need. We agree that the ship is in need of a complete refit to update some of the areas but if you are looking for a laid back, fun holiday please do not take the bad reviews as gospel as there as more good reviews. We will look to book again next year but hope that maybe there are different itineraries as we have visited most of the ports. Go on give the IE a go.

It was our first cruise and Island Escape was recommended by a family friend. We went in June 2013 to the western Med. We really enjoyed it ,very relaxed atmosphere, spotlessly clean ,some parts look a bit dated but that didn't bother us. We had a delux balcony room which was very comfortable and kept very nicely by our lovely cabin steward Hugo. All the staff were brilliant ,friendly ,polite and keen to please. Food was lovely with a good choice. Waiters gave a very good service especially Rajesh and Ronny .Entertainment very good from the showtime entertainers to the duo Mardi Gras. The only negatives were docking in the ports was a bit noisy from the engine vibration when getting in place safely and some of the outside tables were wobbly. Only two small complaints next to dozens of positives. Would love to sail on this ship again, a lot of people we spoke to had been on the ship 5/6 times which I think proves what a lovely ship it is with the staff making the difference. We went with elderly mother and her friend, they loved it too. It was great waking up in a new place every morning and would definitely recommend it.

We went on the Island Escape in April and we had a great time from start to finish, the food the drinks and the entertainment were first class. That was the best cruise we have enjoyed and I think that we will go back on another time and knowing when we book that we are going to have the best time on holiday again.

Just got back from Spirit of the Med, had a great time on board this ship, been on Thomson ships quite a few times, but this was the best for the casual flow of the holiday. We met loads of friendly folk, the staff & crew can't do enough for you,  there were loads of choice for food & drink and we ate breakfast & lunch in the beachcomber & had dinner in island restaurant. Tables were set & waiters were very helpful, with a good choice on the buffet. We would definatley go back on this ship, would like to know of other places she goes too.

Me and my family cruised on the Island Escape in October and I have to say it wasnt what I expected. The holiday was a gift but wouldn't have been my choice, had I been choosing. I always saw a cruise as being a little too formal for myself and partner but was pleasently surprised. The staff couldn't be more friendly and make it all about you for the duration of your holiday. The food is really good which i wasn't expecting from a 3* ship. The atmosphere is really relaxed and theres no dress codes hanging over you. Rooms are constantly being cleaned and there is always some kind of entertainment going on throughout. There's something for everybody entertainment wise and if you just want to relax in cabin there are two different up-to-date movies shown every day 3 times a day. The trips are a quite expensive but we booked to Pompeii on the day in Naples. I didnt think the guide gave us enough time to see everything as its a very big place to cover and he wasnt very clear so we found ourselves listening to some other guide who was much more interesting. I would probably make my own way there if I ever went again. I would definately try another Thomson Cruise as they are family friendly and great value for money considering what you get. Compared to hotels I have been to, this is definately deserving of its 3 stars.

Went our first cruise in 2013 and we enjoyed it so much we have already booked for 2014. Top tip: book the best cabin you can afford, without busting the bank. You won't be dissapointed. We chose a balcany cabin at the back of the ship. The organisation, crew, food and shore visits were great. Treat it like a floating 5 star hotel. The crew can't do enough for you. Looking forward to 2014.
