Freedom of the Seas of was officially the largest cruise ship in the world when she was launched in June 2006. Freedom of the Seas has two near identical sister ships, the Independence of the Seas and the Liberty of the Seas

The first of the Freedom class ships, she boasts a fantastic array of at sea innovations, such as Studio B — a hi-tech ice rink, offering a variety of ice shows, plus the opportunity to ice skate on the ocean. The ship also boasts an amazing array of entertainment and recreation, from a climbing wall and surf machine, to a great choice of shows and lounge bars.

Freedom of the Seas also boasts a fantastic selection of dining venues, offering everything from fine dining to hot dogs or ice cream. 

Recent Upgrades: Freedom of the Seas benefitted from the addition of the Dreamworks Experience, a 3D cinema, an outdoor movie screen, ship-wide Wi-Fi and a new nursery. Vintages win bar enjoyed an refresh while Cupcake Cupboard has been introduced to the ship.

Cuisine and Dining on Freedom of the Seas

Freedom of the Seas boasts among Royal Caribbean's best choice of dining venues and styles of food. From the main dining rooms offering sumptuous cuisine in more formal surroundings, to Johnny Rocket's '50s-styled dinner. Whatever your mood or fancy, there is always something to suit your mood.

If more elegant surroundings and a la carte menus are more your thing, then why not head to Portofino's for the finest Italian cuisine, or to Chops Grille for a perfect steak. If you are in the mood to pizza and a more casual Italian atmosphere, then Sorrento's is just the treat.

For casual dining you can head to the ship's buffet venue, enjoy the famous American diner experience in Johnny Rockets, or maybe tempt yourself with the '40s charm and wonderful baked goods of the Cupcake Cupboard.

Entertainment on Freedom of the Seas

Freedom of the Seas is renowned for its exceptional choice of onboard entertainment. The Freedom class ship bought together the elegance of Broadway-style shows in the main theatre, wonderful products in Studio B's ice rink and a fantastic choice of bars and lounges to relax in.

Whether it's high rolling in the casino, enjoying the elegant surrounding of the Martini bar, or heading to the sports bar, or the English-style pub for a cold beer. You will be spoilt for choice.

With kid's clubs and Royal Caribbean's partnership with DreamWorks, the youngsters are looked after too. With DreamWorks films, character meetings and shows inspired by DreamWorks' most popular stories, there is entertainment for all ages onboard. The kids' clubs offer tailored entertainment and learning for all ages, and the teen club, gives teenagers their own space onboard.

Spa & Fitness on Freedom of the Seas

Freedom of the Seas is also no slouch in the spa and fitness department either. The ship boasts a fabulous spa, where you can be pampered to your hearts content with the great selections of treatments on offer. The adult only spa has its own, relaxed pool, hot tubs and all the great facilities you would expect from Royal Caribbean.

There is also a fully equipped modern gym onboard, so you can burn off the calories from all the wonderful food onboard. If you fancy taking a class or two, then why not give the likes of yoga or pilates a go?

Recreation on Freedom of the Seas

Freedom of the Seas, as the first of the Freedom class ships was unrivalled when it comes to recreation at sea when she was first launched. Today Freedom of the Seas remains one of the finest ships at sea and still offers a great selection of entertainment and recreation.

If you are looking for a little excitement at sea, then why not try the ship's climbing wall, the FlowRider — the cruise lines renowned surf machine — or you could go ice skating in Studio B. Head to the Royal Promenade to enjoy the hustle and bustle or the ship's social hub, to do a spot of shopping or maybe for a relaxed coffee. There's the always the library to escape to for some piece and quit. Relax in the spa, on deck or in the pool.
