Hotel Belcekiz Beach,
Resort Olu Deniz ****
This hotel deserves a few prizes for its location. Hemming the waterfront in Olu Deniz, it’s just footsteps from the beach. Plus, you’ll find bars, shops and restaurants right on your doorstep. What’s more, the hotel has a ringside seat for watching one of Olu Deniz’s favourite pastimes - paragliding. It is big business here and paragliders often swoop right down to the cheers of onlookers.
The hotel also stands in lovely gardens. Arranged in candy-painted annexes spread around the grounds, it’s got a definite Mediterranean-village quality. Think bright bougainvillea trailing over wooden trellises and balconies.
Tucked into the gardens is a lagoon-like pool. Overlooking it is the main buffet restaurant, great for a bit of al fresco dining on summer nights. There’s also an à la carte option – take your pick from Italian, Thai or Indian.
In the evenings, the hotel lays on a little light entertainment. Plus you’ve got the option of heading into Olu Deniz for plenty more choice.
One last thing – the Belcekiz really prides itself on its service. The staff here can’t do enough for you. All in all, it makes for a great holiday.

Hotel Marmaris Imperial,
Resort Marmaris ***+
In terms of setting, this place is in a spot as magical as its name. Standing solo on a curve of land that juts out into the sea, it offers up great views of Marmaris Town. It is eight kilometres from the town itself, but the hotel's regular bus service makes getting there really easy. Plus, because the hotel is adult-exclusive from Summer 2011, you can unwind in child-free surroundings.
Dotted around the hotel grounds you'll find pretty terracotta-coloured houses peeking out under skyscraper trees. Step inside and you'll see rooms are straight from the modernist school of thought. With feature walls painted in sharp lime green, photographic flower prints on the walls and well-dressed dark wood beds, they're classy and cool. What's more they have huge windows so they're really light and airy.
In terms of things to do here, there's plenty on offer. For starters there are the two pools. The main one is a good-size angular number, while the second is tucked away among the trees and has a quieter vibe. They both come with a generous helping of loungers and parasols, along with a pool bar. But if you prefer to be by the sea, there are more sunbeds, umbrellas and another bar down on the beach.
For more dining options, the main food hub is a buffet, offering up global dishes and show cooking. If you prefer something more formal, book a table at an à la carte.
