Summary:  Just returned from the Mauritius to Venice cruise. Very much enjoyed the trip and will summarise our views :- 1. Particularly impressed with the ship's crew. Helpful and cheerful. 2. Good meals - better than expected. 3. Enjoyable entertainment - short and sweet, good variety bearing in mind the 30 day trip. 4. Satisfied with the outside cabin on the 4th deck. Spacious and comfortable. No substantial complaints - wifi access difficult, but appreciate the technical difficulties. Better to use Internet when on dry land! Impressed with IGLU's performance. Jonathan was VG and all transfers were efficient.

Summary:  Great thing about Costa is its adventurous choice of destinations. Just returned from the Indian Ocean via the Red and the Med and Madagascar in particular made for exceptional excursions. In over a month, we didn't see any other cruise ships till we reached Venice. Another big plus was the Freedom Dining concept. Nothing gives us the shudders more than spending night after night penguined up, sharing a table with the same six people. This concept allows you to use the restaurant at whatever time you like and if you don't fancy being waited on there's an excellent trattoria two decks up. Crew brilliant - Costa work them devilishly hard but their humour and personality never flag. Less pleased with the activities offered compared to other cruise lines, particularly the absence of guest speakers. Beware the hidden cost of gratuities. Fixed at seventeen euros per day for a couple. We didn't build that into our budget, having been wrongly advised by Iglu when I inquired at the time of booking. Overall, great trip. We'll be checking out Costa's itineraries next time round.

Summary:  The ship was very clean. The crew were very good. The ports of call were great. There were plenty of bad points. The food was just about ok, but pretty repetitive and we were served what appeared to be rehashed leftovers. The buffet closed at 9 o'clock, and there was never any late night buffets, chocoholic nights or gala buffets. Tea and coffee was limited to breakfast and afternoon tea, at other times you had to pay for it. For a fee, you could have room service. Pizza was only available at extra cost and service charge. The is no free tea and coffee in the cabins. The all inclusive drinks package excludes many basic drinks such as chocolate, sangria, Irish coffee etc. The 15% service charge is just about applicable to everything you spend on board, including shop purchases and tour excursions, my €238 tour went up to €270+, quite a difference. Largely, what little entertainment there was, is made up through passenger participation, and the shows were quite poor. The musicians were repartitious, but ok. Also, there are no 'clubs' ie, solo travellers, or Dorothy. A lot of maintenance was carried out, painting and the fitting of the new funnel. At times stairwells were closed, and the fumes from painting meant some areas were inaccessible at times - including my cabin! The only highlights of the cruise was meeting some wonderful people, going to some great places, and the crew.
