Review Picture Summary: Always been to Caribbean before, first time cruising the Med. May 26 - June 2nd. What Joy! Short Easyjet flight, €25 in taxi right up to the dock for the first glimpse of the awesome Adventure of the Seas, dominating the dock. Very smooth check in and great cabins.

We were lounging in 28* under clear blue sky with an ice cold cocktail from the indomitable Harry of Harry's Bar on the top deck less than six hours after leaving dreary drizzly Manchester! No jet lag, no problems. All the facilities were as good as promoted and the Windjammer self service was always well stocked and extremely well run. Our waiter Samuel was every bit as good as the waiters in the formal restaurants and looked after us really well - even when I mistakenly put chocolate sauce on my excellent roast beef mistaking it for gravy! Abel, the cruise director, and his team, Jaba and Gabriel and others, made sure the fun was non stop if that is what you wanted. The Duck and Dog pub quizzes were a real hit with the Brits, mainly thanks to the infectious personality of the quizmistress - Claire ( I might have got the name wrong) but just go there and you will be well entertained.

The only shows which were a bit below par were the Lyric Theatre productions which fell short of the standard I have experienced on Princess Cruises and Ocean Village. However, The Ice Show, and the Royal Promenade entertainment more than made up for this. It was nice travelling with Spanish and a few German passengers and Abel made light work of going from language to language without making either nation feel they were waiting for information — they should have him compere the Eurovision Song Contest. It is well worthwhile catching his talk on his 6 months solo around the world on a Ducatti motorbike — I learned more about the state of the world in 40 minutes than I ever did from the news programmes.

If you expect just to step of the ship into little resorts then this is not the trip for you — except for Ajjaccio a trip by coach is required at each port. If you're not fussed about Florence, as it follows the day after the long haul to Rome (worth it), then €10 on the bus takes you into Livorno, which is a great place to shop around and a boat trip on the canal network is easily fitted in and the guide onboard is excellent. Valencia is closed on Sundays making it easy to enjoy the beautiful squares and churches and architectural delights, There are enough cofffee houses and continental bars and restaurants open to sit and relax in. Would I go Royal Caribbean again? Absolutely.

As always, though, it is the entertainent team, the waiters, the chefs, and the cleaners who all go to make the cruising eperience one to be remembered with relish. Well done Adventure of the Seas.
