Summary: Recently returned from a 10 day, around UK cruise, on the Adonia -7-17th August, 2012. P&O did very well. Smooth embarkation and disembarkation in Southampton. A very comfortable outside cabin on D deck - clean, comfortable and well maintained.

An attentive cabin steward. Dining was very good in the Paific restaurant, and we were well looked after by Steven and Sujoy. We used the Sorrento for a special anniversary dinner with our table companions and had a great evening sailing out of Liverpool on a calm and sunny evening, with a view over the stern of the Mersey and coastine from one of the tables at the back of the restaurant. It was a 'busy' trip - just 2 sea days - and it was noticeable that the public areas died by around midnight.

We are more used to partying until the small hours, and this trip was remarkable in that I was in bed before midnight on one night. The age profile was rather older than on previous cruises. On the evenings in the Crows Nest when there wasn't a quiz until 11.15 (!) the entertainment was generally fine. An Irish folk singer, Black Jack Davey, who was on board for the last 4 days of the cruise was excellent entertainment.

He really got the room revved up and was immensely popular. Well done Adonia!

Summary: We have recently cruised on Adonia - 29th October to 8th November. Our cabin was very satisfactory - kept clean and tidy by our designated steward. The Pacific Restaurant provided very good varied meals with attentive service from the waiters. We chose to pay cover charges to have evening meals in The Sorrento Restaurant, and also the Ocean Grill, the latter being overseen by Chef Marco Pierre White who spent two days onboard.

The food and service there in was outstanding. Excellent planning and organisation of the evening entertainment could not be faulted and every act was first class - our particular favourite being Hilary O'Neil, the all round comedian, singer and impersonator. We did, however, wonder as to why the curtains in the Curzon Theatre were not drawn in order to reduce the distraction of the outside lighting. The speakers on board were very interesting, in particular Tricia Stewart, one of the original Calendar Girls.

The scheduled ports were popular with clients, but due to very bad weather, the ship was not able to call in at Monte Carlo (the main reason for our choosing this cruise), where Shirley Bassey was waiting to board for lunch with the Captain. The Adonia is a lovely small friendly ship and we plan to revisit her.
